Like many of Aram Khachaturian’s scores, the richness of color, sound, and rhythm in his Piano Concerto is unmistakable. If you thought the most unusual feature was its key, D-flat major, wait until you hear the addition of the flexatone in the second movement. French pianist of Armenian descent Jean-Paul Gasparian will be the soloist, with Daniel Raiskin conducting Prokofiev’s radiant Symphony No. 5.
